Together we can change your life!
My introduction to Chiropractic occurred in my second year of Kinesiology. The program had a strong focus on how many health risks were significantly reduced or eliminated altogether by simply being active. I recall thinking to myself “well why don’t people just take care of themselves in the first place then”? It frustrated me that so many people would wait until a problem presented itself, or they were overcome with an illness or disease, before they even considered changing their life habits. I knew I wanted a career that embodied this prevention philosophy...one that promoted health versus one that addressed disease. I wanted to inspire people to be healthy in the first place rather than waiting until something was “broken”. It was one day that I overheard a girl in my class mention that she was going to be attending Chiropractic College. I thought at the time “what does that have to do with anything?!” It intrigued me enough to look it up later and I will never forget that moment. There I was, reading about Chiropractic, realizing that everything Chiropractic stood for, matched my list of "wants" for a career. Up to that time, I had no idea what Chiropractic was all about, or the impact it could have on a person's health.
My Chiropractic Journey
My first visit to the Chiropractor was not driven by pain or symptoms, but more to learn about my own spinal alignment. I wanted to see if this truly was a career I wanted to pursue. Interestingly enough, I cancelled my first adjustment because I had come down with an ear infection. Ear and throat infections were a common occurrence for me from the time I was a child to that date at 19 years of age, resulting in allergies to three different antibiotics. When I came to my rescheduled appointment, my Chiropractor educated me on the role of the nervous system in health and immunity. I was adjusted for the first time, and have had regular Chiropractic care since. Interestingly enough, I haven't had an ear infection since that first Chiropractic adjustment.
Since that first “aha” moment, I have had the privilege in seeing so many lives change with Chiropractic. I am continually inspired by the people I encounter who have made breakthroughs with their health, adding years to their life, but more importantly life to their years. It also keeps me accountable as I choose to live the lifestyle as well. I know that I am the best version of “me” in body, mind, and spirit, when I am eating well, exercising regularly, maintaining my alignment and choosing productive, empowering thoughts.
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”
